United Way Helps Americans Achieve Financial Stability
As many as one-third of working Americans do not earn enough money to meet their basic needs. Wages have not kept pace with the rising cost of housing, healthcare, and education and currently, 40 million Americans are working in low-paying jobs without basic health and retirement benefits. For families walking a financial tightrope, unable to save for college, a home, or retirement, United Way is here to help.
United Way of Murray-Calloway County strives to end generational poverty. We want to provide Murray-Calloway County with tools and resources to become financial stable and self-sufficient by learning how to budget, track spending, and what banks in Murray offer to help them on their journey to financial stability.
To address the obstacles that prevent hard working families from getting ahead financially, we launched the Financial Stability Partnership™, an initiative that promotes community-change strategies to help families meet their basic needs, while gaining the financial capability to plan for, and accomplish, their long-term financial goals.
We are constantly working to develop new tools to provide to families and individuals to make them more financial stable. We provide workshops for individuals to learn important information to become financially stable. These classes are taught by banking professionals and consumer science professionals in comfortable, inclusive environments. We are also developing delivery methods online to more effectively reach individuals who may not be able to attend these workshops.
We focus on different populations and their needs specifically as we develop these resources. We develop tools and resources for students, young familes with children, adults preparing for retirement, senior citizens, amoung other populations of Calloway County.
It is our goal to make resources readily available to the citizens of Calloway County for anyone who wants to take steps towards financial stability. Below you will find a few resources to help you and your family with daily spending, budgeting, and other financial tools.
